Description: The Tettye lime tuff cave is a unique geological feature: the network of tunnels and chambers was created in the soft, light-structured tuff dating back to about ten thousand years ago. The cave passages were enlarged artificially during the course of centuries, and further corridors and rooms were excavated inside the hill, thus creating a modest labyrinth. In earlier times these were used as human dwellings as well. The Tettye cave was a real tourist attraction at around the early 1900s, called at that time the "Gateway to Hell", and displaying a dreadful dragon. Today this mystic underground tunnel system provides visitors with an interactive exhibition telling about the world of caves, the history of the limestone tuff hollows, as well as other interesting facts.
