Uluru Sunset and Kata Tjuta Tour with Optional Outback Barbecue Dinner

Witness a stunning outback sunset over the red rock of Uluru (Ayers Rock), with the option to enjoy a traditional Aussie barbecue dinner. As well as seeing the amazing spectacle of Uluru at sunset, the tour also takes you to see the domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) from a special viewing platform and on a guided walk through Walpa Gorge. The optional barbecue dinner is the perfect way to end your Uluru sunset experience, concluding with an after-dinner stargazing talk in Australia’s outback, one of the best places on earth to view the southern night sky.

After being picked up from your hotel, relax on the scenic drive to Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, and spot Uluru in the distance. En route, listen to your expert guide's overview of Uluru and the Aboriginal people, who have lived near Ayers Rock for the past 22,000 years.

Stop at a viewing platform to see the spectacular domes of Kata Tjuta, formerly known as the Olgas. Then follow your guide on a gentle one-hour walk along a rocky trail through Walpa Gorge, known for its desert plants and animals. While walking, listen to your guide's commentary about the local flora, fauna and geology, and receive insights into the desert environment you're passing through.

As the sun dips toward the horizon, your tour continues to the Uluru Sunset Viewing Area, taking you through the national park and past the unusual sight of camels making their way through the desert.

Enjoy a selection of Australian wines and nibbles while you relax and take in the splendor of Uluru at sunset. Sit and relax or go for a stroll to find your ideal viewing spot to watch Uluru as the sun dips beneath the horizon.

Choose the barbecue dinner option to continue your tour into the evening, and wine and dine under the stars at an exclusive outback venue. Enjoy the tastes and aromas of a traditional Aussie barbecue and sip Australian sparkling wine. The menu includes sizzling gourmet sausages of beef and kangaroo, seasonal salads and fresh bread rolls. Refresh with a complementary selection of wine, beer and soft drinks.

Swap travel stories and sip traditional billy tea as you sit under a canopy of stars, twinkling like diamonds in the clear desert sky. Your local guide and star expert will point out the constellations and planets, locate south using the Southern Cross and identify the gleaming Milky Way.
