Dr. Babasahed Ambedkar International Airport (Marathi: डॉ.बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर आंतरराष्ट्रीय विमानतळ) (IATA: NAG, ICAO: VANP) is a public domestic and international airport serving the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the 18 Airports in Maharashtra. It was named after Bharatratna Dr. "Babasaheb" Ambedkar who was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Strategically located and in a prosperous region, Nagpur International Airport figures to play prominently in the spectacular growth of air travel in India.
The Integrated Terminal Building is a contemporary concrete, glass and steel structure and is equipped with modern facilities such as central air-conditioning, Passenger Boarding Bridges with Visual Docking Guidance System, Escalators, Lifts, Baggage Conveyor System in Arrival as well as Departure Hall, CCTV, FIDS and other such modern passenger amenities of international standards.
For passenger facilitation and convenience the new Terminal Building has been provided with 20 check-in counters and 20 immigration counters. It has modern facilities like Restaurant, Snack Bar, Child Care Room, Bank, ATM, Concessionaire, Medical Inspection Rooms. A spacious Car Park, which can accommodate 600 cars at a time, has also been built. The airport has got 2 Aerobridges. 8 new parking bays has been constructed taking the total number of parking bays to 18.
For improving city side connectivity, AAI has also constructed a new approach road to connect the terminal building with the main highway. AAI is also seized of the need to improve the ATM and communication, navigation facilities at the Nagpur airport. It plans to construct a New Control Tower and Technical Block with all modern CNS ATM facilities. The airport connects Nagpur to 12 domestic destinations, as well as the international destinations Sharjah / Dubai. The Airport caters 6 Domestic Airlines and 1 International Airline.
