Heyokah Art House is an independent gallery space, located on Jalan Andong, Ubud- Bali. Established late 2013 this Artist run initiative sets out to provide a creative space for practising artists, musicians and communities of varying sorts. With the key importance of merging Indonesian and international artists to work and learn as one.
Heyokah Art House asserts the importance of contemporary art production and discussion in society. Heyokah Art House will hold numerous exhibitions and events through out 2014.
The Heyokah team aim to provide an open policy, non-selective and non-profit exhibition space, giving artists and community groups the freedom of exhibiting in a professional environment and the opportunity of displaying and playing with new art. Heyokah aims to provide a stepping-stone for emerging artists into commercial galleries, developing professional skills for every step of the exhibition process. Whilst offering established artists the freedom of their own curatorial stance. We aim to nurture all art forms including poetry readings, theatre, educational lectures and practical art classes as well as an open space for combining yoga and meditation with creative attributes.
The Heyokah is a contrary clown who holds total wisdom and teaches the people through laughter and opposites. The key note to the Heyokah is to lighten up and start balancing the sacredness with irreverence.
