Sacaramb is a village in the central-eastern county of Hunedoara , the Ore Mountains . It belongs to the commune of Upper Certeju . Access is on the way Deva - Şoimuş - Upper Certeju (DJ 761), Upper Certeju - Sacaramb - Geoagiu (DJ 705 - modernized way).
Săcărâmb part of Golden Quadrilateral in the Apuseni Mountains . Săcărâmb was a mining town unique in the world in which they were discovered more than 100 kinds of minerals , two of them unique in the world, other five were identified only in South Africa . First Adit has made its way through the walls of the mountain in 1746 , and to this day threshold has been reached hundreds of galleries. For 128 years (1748-1876) for the mining complex was considered the most profitable in Europe , yielded more than 40 tons of gold from this deposit.
The name of this town has quickly circled the Earth arousing great interest among scientists, both structural and genetic complexity of the deposit but especially by mineralogical rarities found here. For this deposit link discovery and description for the first time in the world of minerals: krenerit , muthmannit , Săcărâmb (nagyagite), tellurite , Petz , Silvana . But Săcărâmb mineralogy enriched with minerals not only us but also the chemistry with a hitherto unknown element - Te - while demonstrating that gold reacts chemically with other elements. The interest aroused by deposit Săcărâmb is illustrated by the fact that he was the field of study of many researchers at universities and geology in Vienna , Budapest , and the mining academies of Freiberg , Bibra , Leoben and Graz .
In Săcărâmb surroundings at the foot Cetraşului were discovered in 1860, a vessel containing gold coins and a bronze chain. Roman Republican coins are known to be employed in trade relationships by Gauls before the Roman conquest.
Between 1802-1814, Săcărâmb was a center of the Enlightenment represented Romanian Transylvanian School , the dean Uniate of Săcărâmb, Vasile Giants , who, along with Peter Major , had major contribution in the drafting of the first Romanian language lexicon Quadrilingual, known as the lexicon of Buda .
Crazy church was a Greek Catholic church built in 1800 and destroyed by a thunderbolt after 170 years. Its ruins still watching city on the ridge on which it was placed. The oldest church is but the Roman Catholic Church, built in 1777 .
