After leaving Madrid, we'll cross the plains of La Mancha, home to Don Quixote heading for Cordoba. Here we'll visit the famous Mosque and the old Jewish Quarter before continuing to Seville where we'll spend the night. After breakfast we'll go on a panoramic sightseeing tour of this vibrant, sensual city, passing the Cathedral, the old Santa Cruz neighbourhood and the Maria Luisa Gardens. Then in the afternoon you'll have plenty of time to explore by yourself with the option of going to a flamenco show in the evening.
Early in the morning we head for the mythical city of Granada, the last stronghold of the Moors in Spain before their final defeat in 1492. Here we'll go on a guided tour of the stunning place complex of La Alhambra, said to be one of the world's most beautiful buildings and the Generalife gardens, a paradise on earth by the city's Islamic rulers. We'll spend the night here and if you wish you can go on an optional evening flamenco tour.
After breakfast we'll head for Valencia. This port city has been undergone extensive urban regeneration. We'll go on a sightseeing tour and visit the ultra-modern City of Arts and Sciences, designed by local architect Santiago Calatrava. The city is also the home of the paella – you shouldn't leave here without trying one.
After spending the night here we'll drive up the Mediterranean coast towards Barcelona. This beautiful city is now firmly on the map as one of the world's top urban destinations. We'll go on a panoramic sightseeing tour taking all of the city's landmarks including the Olympic Ring, Montjuic, the Port area and the old Gothic Quarter. You'll also have time to admire some of visionary architect Antoni Gaudi's masterpieces including the magnificent unfinished Basilica of La Sagrada Familia, the beautifully landscaped gardens at the Parc Guell and La Pedrera and Casa Batlló, his surreal apartment blocks on the Passeig de Gracia.
The following morning we'll drive through the parched plains of Aragon, heading up the valley of the Ebro towards Zaragoza. There's plenty to see in this beautiful city that was founded by the Romans.
