Bwindi, Queen, Murchison Falls & Ssese Island Safari

This safari starts from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park provides a thrilling experience as you go through undulating hills and small-scale farmlands. It provides a memorable experience when you spend time in the jungle viewing varieties of primates and birds but most importantly tracking the giant mountain gorillas. Bwindi being a tropical rain forest provides an amazing experience to nature lovers but not forgetting the beautiful and hospitality of the local community who showcase their culture.

Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National park, home to the famous tree climbing lions as well as the Uganda kobs, various antelope’s species, topis, hyenas, crocodiles, waterbucks, elephants, baboons, hippos, buffaloes, and 10 primate species including chimpanzees and many more. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded, making the park a magnet for bird watchers. The bird species include the black bee-eater, 11 types of king fisher, and several species of falcons, eagles and the raptors and many more. In the crater lakes to the north, flocks of flamingoes can be found. A favorite way to view the game is by a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel between Lakes George and Edward.

Continue to Murchison Falls National Park derives its name from the Murchison Falls where the mighty river Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with Hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The Vegetation is characterized by savannah, Riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes; lions, leopards, chimpanzee giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda Kob, Chimpanzees and many bird species including the rare shoebill stock. The safari will then end in Kampala city with a city tour.

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Gorilla National Park:
Have an early breakfast and the guide / driver will pick you up from Mbarara town and you will then drive to Bwindi Gorilla National Park. The drive will be memorable because of the rolling hills, terraced landscape of the region, and beautiful panoramas. The drive to the park will be short. Proceed for a cultural walk to interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups. Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking:
After an early morning breakfast and guide briefing, set off for gorilla tracking in the forests of Bwindi. Gorilla tracking can be arduous because of Bwindi’s challenging terrain. Packed lunch will be carried with drinking water, and wear comfortable boots or sturdy shoes, as well as carry a light rain jacket as Bwindi has unpredictable weather. Walking sticks will be obtainable from the park rangers. Stumbling upon the gentle giants will be the most exciting experience! For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. After an encounter with the group of gorillas some with silver backs, one can say “its the ultimate Gorillas experience”.

Day 3: Scenic Views en-route to Queen Elizabeth National Park:
Have an early morning breakfast and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey. Have a game drive en route that will reward you with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species. After lunch, continue to the crater region craterlakes for sightseeing and also visit Katwe Salt works for a hint into traditional salt mining.

Day 4: Game Drive, Launch cruise on Kazinga Channel:
An early morning game drive in this park provides excellent opportunities to see Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bush bucks and many more. After lunch, enjoy an exclusive 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest absorption of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers a brilliant platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing, perfect for this Uganda safari.

Day 5: Game drive, Transfer to Hoima:
After an early breakfast, have another game drive in the park were you will be able to view the different wildlife; Uganda kobs, various antelope’s species, topis, hyenas, crocodiles, waterbucks, elephants, baboons, hippos, buffaloes and many more. If luck is no you might be able to see the climbing Lion, proceed to Hoima where you will have lunch and an overnight at a comfortable hotel.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park:
Have an early breakfast drive to the park through Budongo forest on the western arm of the Great Rift Valley and enjoy the magnificent falls where the Nile perfects its gorgeous falls concocts a deafening roar and rainbow in a spiral of the spray across the great River Nile. You will later retire to the superb comfort and service of your lodge of choice.

Day 7: Game drive and hiking to the top of the falls
You will have an early breakfast in the morning and then you will go for a game drive where you will be able to view the wildlife like; leopards, chimpanzee, giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda Kob, Chimpanzees and many bird species including the rare shoebill stock. You wil have a lunch en route and in the afternoon you will hike to the top of mighty Murchison Fall whose banks provide an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles, water birds along the river banks enabling an excellent birding safari. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Wildlife Safari – Murchison Falls National Park:
Have an early breakfast and proceed to the northern part of the park for a game drive. View Elephants, Buffaloes, Bushbucks, Lions, and a variety of bird species. After lunch, go for a two-hour launch cruise up to the base of the mighty Murchison Falls where sinister water escapes from the narrow gorge, providing an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles, water birds along the river banks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ziwa rhino sanctuary to Kampala:
Have breakfast very early in the morning and embark on the journey back to Kampala. Have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which provides a brief tour of this Rhino restoration project. Following the extinction of Uganda’s Rhino in the early 1980s during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching, a sanctuary has now been established to breed black and white rhino, and restore rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas in a later stage. Have lunch and en route back to Kampala.

Day 10: Transfer to Ssese highland:
Have breakfast and drive to Bukakata from Kampala in the morning such that you’re in time to catch the morning ferry to Ssese Island. It’s the most beautiful island in Uganda found in Lake Victoria. It does not only provide beautiful scenery but it’s also a peaceful and quite place good for relaxation. You will be able to enjoy a relaxation walk around the beach and the boat ride.

Day 11: Transfer to Kampala
Have an early morning breakfast, go for a swim in the lake, sunbath and also have a walk around the shores of lake Victoria. Catch the ferry and from Ssese island. Have lunch as you en route to Kampala or Entebbe. If your flight is in the morning you will have an early breakfast and catch the morning ferry. will take you straight to the airport for your departure flight. But we encourage our clients not to schedule flights on the final day of this safari as the ferry could break down and you miss your flight.

Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch located in Nakasongola district is the home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. The Rhino re-introduction project is a project of Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Conveniently located 176km (100 miles) north of Kampala on the Gulu highway towards Murchison Falls (branch off at Nakitoma trading centre). Ziwa is the only place where you will be able to see rhinos in the wild.
Presently the sanctuary is home to twelve (12) southern white rhinos – six (6) Adults, three (3) adolescents and three (3) babies. Two of the adult females are also expected to give birth next year. The sanctuary has become increasingly popular with tourists; for rhino trekking, bird watching, nature walks and relaxation.

Cancellation and Refund by Uganda Wildlife Authority

A client may cancel a booking and UWA may refund certain amounts when a booking is cancelled in time, as indicated below. All refunds shall be affected at UWA Headquarters in Kampala through the Reservation Office. And refunds may take about 21 days to process.

* UWA will retain the following percentages upon cancellations:
* 0 – 8 days to tracking date – no refund
* 9 – 45 days to tracking date – 75% (25% refund to client)
* 46 – 90 days to tracking date – 50% (50% refund to client)
* 91 days and above to tracking date – 30% (70% refund to client)
* No refund will be made on the 30% deposit under any circumstances

The cancellation refund regulation will apply to visitors who cancel prior to their tracking dates.
All Cancellations will be made in writing and UWA will consider the date of receipt of notification as the cancellation date.

Payment
At the time of booking you must confirm acceptance of these terms and conditions and pay a deposit of 20% of the price of your holiday including fees for gorilla permits. (See also section on gorilla permits.) If written acceptance is not received from you, we shall assume acceptance of the Terms and Conditions. The balance must be paid in full not later than 45 days before departure. Bookings made within 30 days of departure must be paid in full at the time of booking. All monies you pay to one of our authorized agents for your holiday with us will be held by the agent on our behalf until it is paid to us or refunded to you.

Failure to Track refunds
Visitors who fail to track the gorillas (especially in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park) as a result of the gorilla movement to the neighboring country shall receive a full refund on their permits.
